Thank you for taking the time to review my campaign page for Moscow City Council.
My name is Jason Stooks, I have been married for 14 years to my amazing wife and we have a fantastic adult daughter together. I own and operate a solutions-based business providing emergency medical training and event services in Moscow.
We moved to Moscow looking for a community that we could be a part of where we could use our education in Emergency Management (myself) and Early Childhood (my wife). Moscow is a perfect fit for us and we want to be part of and give back to the community. My wife and I along with our daughter, struggled through the lockdown but through our faith, dedication to each other, we planned out how we would move during this trying time. We love being here and being a part of the Moscow community.
I have experienced many challenges to get to where I am now. Through my faith, my loving family, and many mentors in my life, I am grateful to be able to serve in kind so that others may succeed. I have spent the last 10 plus years working towards building my skills and education so that I may provide others with the same opportunities for success that I am so grateful for.
I have a degree in Emergency Management - Criminal Justice and I am currently attending the University of Idaho for my bachelor’s in criminology. I hold the following certifications, National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) certified Emergency Medical Technician, National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) Instructor, STOP THE BLEED Ambassador and instructor, Situational Awareness For Employees instructor (S.A.F.E.), a United States Concealed Carry Association (USCCA) instructor, a National Rifle Association (NRA) instructor, and an active member in the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program.
My goals for running for City Council in Moscow are to assist in providing solutions for the citizens of Moscow. I want the community to be successful not only if they run a small business, but by having accessible opportunities for all individuals. I believe we can reach these goals through having open discussions on ideas that will not just "feel good" but will truly "do good" for our community. For my vision to be successful we will need a team effort of supporting one another to develop trusting relationships by listening to the people's voice, limiting government oversight, and maintaining the freedom of choices for the community to obtain continued success.
